ZüpMed Weight Loss Program

All patients in our program are medically supervised by a ZüpMed physician. Any of our experienced clinical pharmacists and nurse practitioners may perform your initial evaluation, review your health history, orders labs, and oversee your treatment plan—including any medication decisions. Our team works closely with our physicians to ensure safe, seamless care.

We use advanced 3-dimensional body scans that capture far more information than a scale or tape measure. These scans add powerful. technology that track real physiologic changes such as waist circumference, visceral fat mass, and total body fat mass – while also monitoring what we want to protect – your bone density and muscle mass. This allows us to fine tune your weight loss plan with exceptional accuracy.

Your program includes up to four (quarterly) 3D body scans each year. If you’d like additional scans for closer monitoring, you’re welcome to add them at $99 per scan.

Any off-label use of GLP-1 medications is reviewed and approved by a ZüpMed physician. These medications affect more than appetite; they act on receptors throughout the body and brain and are being studied for conditions such as eating disorders, addiction, inflammatory bowel disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

We never prescribe these agents without a detailed health history and a full evaluation.

We will absolutely try, and our pharmacists work tirelessly to advocate on your behalf.

However, insurance coverage for GLP-1 medications – even for obesity – is often limited (believe us, we share your frustration).

There are new FDA-approved indications you may qualify for, including:

• Obstructive sleep apnea
• Prevention of cardiovascular disease events (in those with established heart disease)
• Certain forms of liver disease

These may require additional evaluation or testing to document eligibility.

Our providers go above and beyond to support you. They assist with:

• Insurance prior authorizations
• Appeals and documentation
• Exploring direct-pay options
• Identifying manufacturer programs
• Coordinating personalized dosing through licensed compounding pharmacies when clinically appropriate

GLP-1 medications are powerful metabolic treatments and can cause serious complications if used without medical supervision. Without proper monitoring, patients may experience incorrect dosing, severe nausea or dehydration, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, worsening kidney or GI issues, interactions with other medications, or unsafe rapid weight loss.

Unmonitored use may also mask underlying medical problems and increases the risk of receiving unregulated or improperly compounded products.
